US Squad for 2006-07 | QUOTE | Monday, 11 September 2006 USSA names Spillane, Demong, 8 others to 2007 nordic combined team PARK CITY, Utah — Former sprint world champion Johnny Spillane and three-time Olympian Bill Demong are among a 10-member U.S. nordic combined team named for the 2007 season, U.S. Nordic Director Luke Bodensteiner said.
Spillane, who jarred many in 2003 when he surged at the end to capture the sprint gold medal at the World Championships in Val di Fiemme, Italy, and Demong have been teammates in the last three Winter Olympics. In the first season after the retirement of four-time Olympian and six-time World Cup winner Todd Lodwick, they are joined on the A team by the Camerota twins, Eric and Brett, who also were on the '06 Olympic team.
"We have some good talent with these guys, but we also have some young athletes coming along on the B team as we look ahead and move into this new Olympic cycle, so we have to be patient," said head coach Lasse Ottesen, who succeeded Bard Elden in the spring. "Johnny and Billy give us good, stable leadership as the others build their experience level."
The 2007 nordic combined squad (including birthdate, hometown and club program):
A team Brett Camerota (1/9/85; Park City, Utah; National Sports Foundation) Eric Camerota (1/29/85; Park City, Utah; NSF) Bill Demong (3/29/80; Vermontville, N.Y.; Lake Placid Ski Club/Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club) Johnny Spillane (11/24/80; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; SSWSC)
B team Bryan Fletcher (6/27/86; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; SSWSC) Alex Glueck (11/9/82; Steamboat Springs, Colo; SSWSC) Willy Graves (9/10/86; Putney, Vt.; National Sports Academy/New York SEF) Skyler Keate (11/13/87; Salt Lake City, Utah; NSF) Alex Miller (12/24/85; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; SSWSC) Davis Miller (12/24/85; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; SSWSC)
The 2007 Warsteiner nordic combined World Cup season opens Nov. 25-26 in Kuusamo, Finland. |

Giuseppe Michielli out for the season(Thanks to Rigel for bringing it to our attention) Giuseppe fell during the 1st round of the jumping phase at the World Cup event in Ruhpolding on December 30th and injured himself badly. He will be out for approximately 6 to 8 months. A very bad blow for Giuseppe and the Italian team. Don't take my word for it, as I'm trying to translate from Italian, he suffered severe ligament damage in his left knee. article on FISI.org
